The gap between theory and empirical reality is nowhere more apparent than in the social sciences, where in the fields of human resources, organizational behavior, and management we often search for the veneer of precision. Thus for me, being deeply entrenched in the social sciences, having a teacher, colleague, and supporter like Aya Cohen is invaluable. She is uniquely capable of not simply applying her innovative statistical techniques, but also is uniquely gifted in the more difficult task of helping researchers to reformulate their questions in such a way that, indeed, their propositions and ideas are truly testable. To say that Aya is a great statistician and a superior colleague is a given. Let us not forget that she has an exceptional analytical mind and a great partner in the theory creation process. Thank you, Aya, for all your support.

Our beloved Aya passed away / איה היקרה שלנו נפטרה
איה האהובה שלנו הלכה לעולמה ב-20 בפברואר 2019. החדשות העציבו וזעזעו את בני משפחתה, ידידיה ורבים מעמיתיה, תלמידיה, מיועצים במעבדה הסטטיסטית בטכניון, ועוד רבים אחרים שאיתם היו לה קשרים חמים של שנים ארוכות.
בלוג זה הוקם בשנת 2008 כדי להנציח את פרישתה של איה מהטכניון. היא שמחה לקרוא את ההודעות היפות שנכתבו על ידי רבים כל כך מאלה שהיא נגעה בחייהם.

Our beloved Aya passed away on Feb 20, 2019. The news has saddened and shocked her family, friends and many of her colleagues, past students, mentees, advisees at the Technion statistics lab, and so many more with whom Aya had wonderful life-long relationships.
