Our friendship with Aya began at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ where she and Elisha were regular visitors. With Aya's many talents and interests in statistics, it was easy for us to become close friends and collaborators. I especially recall our joint work on cluster analysis to which Aya was a strong contributor. More importantly, as the years went by, we especially remember social visits by the Cohens, which kept us close, in spite of the geographical distance that separated us most of the time. Some years later our daughter undertook an internship in Israel and had the opportunity to meet Aya and family as well. We were so fortunate to have Aya as a long-time friend and are deeply saddened by her passing.

איה האהובה שלנו הלכה לעולמה ב-20 בפברואר 2019. החדשות העציבו וזעזעו את בני משפחתה, ידידיה ורבים מעמיתיה, תלמידיה, מיועצים במעבדה הסטטיסטית בטכניון, ועוד רבים אחרים שאיתם היו לה קשרים חמים של שנים ארוכות.
בלוג זה הוקם בשנת 2008 כדי להנציח את פרישתה של איה מהטכניון. היא שמחה לקרוא את ההודעות היפות שנכתבו על ידי רבים כל כך מאלה שהיא נגעה בחייהם.

Our beloved Aya passed away on Feb 20, 2019. The news has saddened and shocked her family, friends and many of her colleagues, past students, mentees, advisees at the Technion statistics lab, and so many more with whom Aya had wonderful life-long relationships.
